I'm really awful at "About" sections. My name is Jessi, and some of my roles in life include wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, makeup artist, freelance copywriter, blogger, lover of all things hippie & happy, and chronic high heel wearer.

My faith and family are the most important things to me in this world. I believe in the power of God, positive vibes, and kindness.

When it comes to makeup, I'm on the "if you like it, wear it" train—basically all about that anarchy.

Rules are for board games and defensive driving; so any instructions you stumble across here should be interpreted merely as suggestions—tips and tricks I've found based on what's worked for me and what's worked for my clients.

By no means are these rules rigid or finite, and in fact, I HOPE that leather-jackety, tattoo-sleevey, push-when-the-door-says-to-pull streak in you comes out to play and you break them all...because that's how you explore and find out what works best for your unique features. In terms of cosmetics, rebellion is a dear friend.

My favorite thing—and the reason I'm so passionate—about makeup artistry is that little confidence boost my clients get when they see their reflections.

Holding their gorgeous heads up a little higher and entrenching those smile lines a little deeper. It's the reason I love doing this.

People might dismiss makeup artistry as a superficial craft, and a strong argument could be made to that end—but I think anything we can do to connect with others, spread happiness, and help another see the “astonishing light of their own beauty and being” is noble and worthy of my time. If God gave me the talent to help women see the beauty in their reflections, I’m thrilled and honored to wield that sword.

My philosophy is that makeup should be a tool to highlight (NOT ALTER) your natural beauty—your distinct features and what make you unique.

because I think most women are so much more incredibly gorgeous than they give themselves credit for, and i've come to appreciate that what makes you different is what makes you beautiful.

Imperfection is my muse.
