So coral is a color I'm seeing absolutely everywhere lately, and I love how fresh, and youthful, and just all-around spring-y it looks—particularly on blue eyes, since orange / bronze / warm tones basically make your azule peepers look like blue on steroids, turning those baby blues into "OOHHH Baby" blues—and I think it looks amazing on just about anyone. Case in point: This little coral-kisser collage down below.
The one thing I need to preface this look with is that it takes a little bit of "finding the right shade for your skin tone." In my experience, if you have cool undertones in your face, stick with a coral that has a more pinkish hue (see Cara Delevigne above), and if you have warm undertones, peach hues will fit right in on your pretty little pucker, and the "juxtaposition" will make your skin look super vibrant (see Jessica Alba above).
Below are some tried-and-true options that I'd recommend, and then I also put together a list of some cheaper dopplegangers. Before you make any purchases, it might not hurt to take a stroll through Sephora, ULTA, or wherever you're hunting, and just try them out on the back of your hand.
I do this in a big way at makeup stores—basically every single tube of lipstick or foundation that catches my eye undergoes the back-of-the-hand test because I hate it when I buy a color and find out later that it's actually really sheer upon application. I feel like the clerks probably think I have some kind of pigment disorder in my hands when I give them my card at checkout, but I will just continue to straight-face it and carry on because it's a small price to pay for peace of mind. It really does help to see how it looks against your skin tone, and obviously, it really helps to see the consistency of the product itself.
If you know of any other brands that make a great coral, let me know! I'm constantly on the prowl for new brands that can outperform the more expensive brands. No one wants to waste their their hard-earned dinero on results they can achieve with cheaper products, am I right? :)
Have a beautiful day!
