So there was a pretty memorable event that took place this past weekend: one of my oldest friends got wifed up! And I'm STILL peeling the glitter confetti off my palms (all of us bridesmaids would like to apologize to the Cardinal Inn for whoever had to vacuum the remnants—glitter does NOT go away!).
But before all of the celebrating, I went on a six-bridesmaids-and-one-bride makeup spree, and I want to share with you one look that I did on two people. I started out with Shaylee, the beautiful maid of honor, and then a little Sydney-bird came by and requested to have the Shaylee-look done to her face as well, so that's why I'm bundling them in together (they are generally a package deal in real life anyway so I thought it made sense).
I apologize for the low quality of the pictures. Our get-ready station was in a basement with limited natural lighting so, despite what the pictures would have you believe, I did not smear red foundation on their faces. When the photog releases the professional pictures, I'll be sure to give you all a sneak peek so you can appreciate the full effect.
This pretty little looker above is our Maid of Honor. She's Steph's younger sister and is a rather delightful human being. Though they definitely have their own unique looks, she and Steph share the exact same lips and nose, and I adore how obvious their similarities are. As mentioned in my sisters post, I eat that stuff up! It pulls at my heartstrings. And since I've done Steph's makeup a handful of times before, I was really excited to play with Shaylee's unique features.
And here, we have the absolutely gorgeous baby of the bridesmaid family. Sydney is like a little sister to me, and she and her family will always have a chunk of my heart with their names on it. It might just be my sister spidey-sense, but just like Shaylee, Sydney looks soo much like her beautiful sisters and mother. She honestly is a total traffic-stopper with or without a stitch of makeup, but I loved doing this look on her because it seemed to just really highlight her natural beauty; plus, I got to accentuate those INCREDIBLE cheeks and cheek bones of hers. Where can I find some like that??
For both girls, I started with Urban Decay's Naked Skin foundation (which is really similar to BareMinerals' BareSkin foundation, except it seems to dry with a little bit more of a matte finish). A lot of beauty gurus suggest doing foundation AFTER the eye makeup is finished so that the fallout from your shadow doesn't stick to the foundation under your eyes, but I like to use the foundation over the eyelid as well so it's all a uniform canvas, so I just dusted a little bit of setting powder under their eyes so that I could brush it all off when I was done.
Then, I used Lime Crime's eye primer and applied Suspect (from the Naked2 palette) all over the lid. I used Snakebite in the outer V and Booty Call in the tear duct and on the brow bone just beneath the arches of their eyebrows. I used a wet angled liner brush and dabbed it in Tease to line their bottom lash lines, and I lined their top lash lines with a basic black liner. No cat eye for either one because they both wanted to keep things low-key.
They both were treated to some LORAC Pro mascara as well. After curling the lashes, I started at the very base of the lash line and wiggled the wand from side to side as I pulled the wand through. This helped to make sure I got every single lash so none of those little guys got away from me.
I did a little bit of HAC-ing with a lighter foundation and some Bahama Mama bronzer and added a little bit of NYX illuminator above the cheekbones (particularly on Syd), after which, I dabbed a small amount of an ULTA brand blush mousse (in Peach Glow).
The lips were very simple. I LIGHTLY lined them with Maybelline's ExpertWear eyebrow pencil in medium brown (this stuff is $2.39, and it works so well as a lip liner for neutral tones) and applied Revlon's Mauve It Over. Aaaaand, of course, I set their makeup with Urban Decay's de-slick Setting Spray. VOILA!
By the way, ULTA's automatic eyeliner is $4.00 right now! GO GO GO!!
