Hello, my pretties. I hope you're all having a lovely day; it's so freaking gorgeous outside that I had to momentarily shut my curtains like the Grinch so I could actually get some work done without being hypnotized by all of that summer goin' on out there.
Speaking of which, I warned you in my Love & Lust & the Balance Challenge post that the warm weather has me itching to kind of refresh my wardrobe and change up my makeup game so I've been really into taking risks lately. Most of the time, I'm walking around with some kind of crazy, bold, vibrant, summery color on my lips, a la . . .
You know the drill.
I do red, pink, coral, magenta, peach, berry, plum, you name it . . . on a day-to-day basis. I'm a lipstick-for-lifer. And whenever I recruit someone to "the dark side," it feels like . . .
But I realize that it's not really fair of me to encourage people to try their hand at color when I refuse to try nude. In fact, nude lips are to me what red lips are to most girls—they don't think they can pull them off, and most of the time, they're dead wrong. They're just not used to color, but almost 100% of the time, the rest of the world can immediately recognize that it looks gorgeous on them.
So I feel like I need to ditch the hypocrite look because it's not a good one on anyone and practice what I preach. So this is me shimmying my daisy dukes off and sprinting into the NUDE beach.
I'm not going to lie, this feels super naked and foreign to me right now, but I decided that I am committing to this! At least for today :)
By the way, although I never do this look to myself (ever), I do apply nude lips to probably at least 75% of my "clients" because that's usually what they request. So I just want to throw it out there that, though it may all be the same if you're on a beach in Europe, there's actually a big difference between naked and nude.
When someone asks me for nude lips, I do what I'm told, but I don't ever just leave them COMPLETELY untouched because—and I realize I've mentioned this in previous posts so hang in there for a sec if you've heard me say this before—but especially in pictures, if you have nothing at all on your lips, they'll kind of look like they just melted into your skin. So a taupe lip liner and a little dab of gloss in the center of your bottom lip really go a long way in injecting that "Angelina WISHES she had my lips" 3-D effect.
For my nudies above, these are the products I used.
I also used that Too Faced lipstick on three or four of my friends in Chicago last weekend, and it looked great on all their skin tones. Might just be a keeper :)
And speaking of keepers . . .
I don't know about you guys, but I've always loved checking out other people's blogs, and since I created my own little corner of the worldwide web, I've been even more interested in other people's approaches. Found this little gem today, and I <3 it.
It's more of a lifestyle blog—fashion, fitness, beauty, travel—and she's got a lot of adorable accessories, cute clothes, and to-die-for "trinkets" sprinkled throughout. Check it out if you're a blog troll like me :)
And yes, this romper just made my "Lust List." I also just might NEED to copy that lip color, but I pinkie swear I won't ditch my nudey noodles till tomorrow ;)
Have a beautiful night, my loves!
